Alicia Project

You can bring a smile to Alicia’s face and hope into her life!  To be honest, without your help, there’s not much hope for Alicia as she grows up.  Alicia, her family, and her community are all trapped in a cycle of spiritual darkness, poverty, and injustice.  A self-perpetuating cycle that will most likely see her raped and pregnant before she turns 13.  It’s the only life her mother, grandmother, and endless generations before them have known.  Their innocence, adolescence, and future stolen away by forced sex and early pregnancy.

For a first hand testimonial of this tragic cycle watch this 2 minute video of XMA volunteer Dr. Joel Chapman explaining why older girls in Honduras don’t smile.

Education is the key to unlock this cycle of spiritual darkness, poverty, and injustice.

“Education is the single best investment in prosperous, healthy, and equitable societies.”
              -UN Food & Agriculture Organization
“The education of girls yields benefits that extend beyond themselves to their communities and to the society at large.”
                -Center for Global Development
“Defend the cause of the weak and the fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.  Rescue the weak and needy: deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

                -Psalm 82:3-4

Through education Alicia, her family, and her community can learn that there is a different way, a better way, to live and to love.  But poverty keeps Alicia and millions of other kids locked out of the “free” education their government provides.

The education may be "free", but many children are still unable to attend because their families simply cannot afford the mandatory school supplies.  For only 22 dollars you can provide Alicia a school backpack filled with all the supplies she needs to stay in school.  Your donation will literally change the trajectory of Alicia’s life.

Each backpack you provide includes a Spanish New Testament so Alicia and her family can learn the truth of God’s love for them.  Plus, XMA teams give the backpacks out in partnership with the local church for follow-up and discipleship. Your donation will keep the smile on Alicia’s face and hope in her life.
